Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a very relaxed and easy-going day; for the misty start to the day being great for photographs; for an early morning delivery of Mr Grey’s kitten food gift from Royal Canin; for an easy writing day; for a relaxed afternoon at home; for a Discovery Healthy Food payment; for a vigorous late afternoon walk to Clifton and back, earning 300 Discovery points for 40 minutes of Cardio 😱; for a loooong catch up call with my Bestie Llewellyn Lambert, triggered by a web address problem; for finally having terminated my Vodacom contract by 28 February; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Friday 13 November 2020, Day 54 of Level 1, Day 232 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a lucky Friday the 13th; for a cooler day, misty at first, and then warming up, with lovely cloud art in the sky; for a productive working morning; for time for a Camps Bay walk, without much litter, and happy to see the yellow plastic broken fence protectors placed upright again in Bali Bay by the City of Cape Town; for an easy drive to Delos in Woodstock, to drop something off; for a very productive client status meeting; for shopping for first German Christmas baked goods at the German Food Shop above Dinkel Bakery on Kloofnek Road; for a German shop at Hartlief in the Garden’s Centre, as well as at Chocolate by Tomes, my favorite chocolate shop; for a catch up call from Stuart Bailey; for a smooth end to a busy week; for dancing to Kfm; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Platter’s Wine Guide 2021 bizarre announcement of 5-star wines, Kleine Zalze Wines named Winery of the Year!

On Wednesday Platters Wine Guide announced its 2021 5-star Wines List, unusually quietly, not revealing the individual winners names on Instagram or on other Social Media platforms, nor at a function traditionally held at the Table Bay Hotel. It appears that its emphasis is on its App, and selling its information by subscription.

Kleine Zalze Wines was named Top Performing Winery of the Year 2021, having seven five-star wines on the 2021 List, achieving this accolade for the first time in the more than 40 year history of the Platter Wine Guide. The Winery celebrated its achievement with a star-studded cake. Continue reading →

Wednesday 23 September, Day 3 of Level 1, Day 181 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a hot summer day, at 26C, loving the sun, even braving getting into the pool at Maison Montagne this afternoon; for a special sunrise at 6h00 this morning; lovely breakfast served out on the terrace; for a busy day, checking out all the changes on the main road of Franschhoek, especially the restaurants; for a meeting with Chefs Darren Badenhorst and Ryan Shell to hear about their new restaurant projects in Franschhoek, very exciting news; for being spared buying a dress when I was very willing and keen, but not finding the perfect one 😱; for a fantastic lunch at Orangerie at Le Lude, the most professional dining venue which I have experienced in Franschhoek, fully booked today with the gorgeous weather, most customers sitting outside; for being able to congratulate Orangerie Chef Nicolene Barrow on her engagement, and to present her with a bottle of ADHARA extra virgin olive oil, given the calibre of her restaurant and cooking; for the Masquerade owner Martie helping me with little gift bags for the purchase of 💙 soaps from her shop; for bumping into Vanie Padayachee and Eleanor Kerwan, hearing their news; for a lovely snack cheese and wine dinner with Llewellyn on the terrace, tasting two lovely Dieu Donne wines, a Henriette Viognier and a Rosé, the former having a lovely Heritage story in honour of Dieu Donné owner Robert Maingard’s late mother; for winning 350 Miles in two Discovery Gameboard plays; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
