Sunday 7 March 2021, Day 7 of Level 1, Day 347 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a cool 19C light drizzle grey day, a first touch of autumn; for being relaxed, my first deep and long sleep night of the past week; for an amazing 3 hour catch-up tea/coffee and shared omelet with Vivian Warby at The 41, not having seen each other in more than two months, brainstorming and getting practical Social Media tips from each other, Emma of the restaurant spoiling us as always; for two Camps Bay walks, bumping into German swallows Thomas and Haakon on the first, and ‘buying’ the Daily Maverick 168 at Pick n Pay and Tex Chocies on the second ; for there being minimal litter today, with not too many picnickers; for a wonderful afternoon snooze; for a chat with Stuart Bailey, introducing a new service at his De Vleispaleis this week; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Wellington Wine Walk: Day 2 not just about Wines, but about Coffee, Gin, and Country food too!

Just over a week ago my school friend Jenny Stephens and I spent two days on the Wellington Wine Walk, a guiding service offered by our school friend Elaine Wegelin and her colleagues Katrin Steytler, and Carol-Ann Jeffrey.

Jenny, Elaine, and I grew up in Wellington, and sat on the same school benches at three Wellington schools. Having left Wellington after Matric 50 years ago, it was not just an eating and drinking adventure, but it was a catch-up of how our hometown has grown and developed in this time. Continue reading →
