Restaurant Association calls for Level 3 Lockdown Curfew to be ‘extended’, but means exactly the opposite!

 

The extension by 30 days of the Amended Level 3 Adjusted, until 15 February, is crippling the restaurant industry, and a number of restaurants have announced that they are closing their doors permanently, or are doing so until 15 February.

While the Restaurant Association of  South Africa is trying to support the Restaurant industry by creating a hashtag campaign on Social Media, its Communication wording is contradictory, requesting that the Curfew time be extended rather than that it be reduced, achieving exactly the opposite!  What the Association is actually trying to say is that the Curfew starting time should be later in the evening. The Yard opens in Waterfront’s Silo District as multi-cultural cuisine Lifestyle Restaurant, Bar, Deli, and Homeware outlet!

The new The Yard in the Silo District of the V&A Waterfront opened last week, as a multi-cultural cuisine restaurant, but also offering a bar, a homeware shop, and a Deli. It is the most unique restaurant I have experienced, in its diverse food offering. Continue reading →

Bree Street: Cape Town’s favourite restaurant street!

Chefs-Warehouse-Chef-Liam-and-chefs-Whale-Cottage-Portfolio-300x225Slowly but surely Bree Street in the Cape Town city centre has become the most talked about restaurant street, with ten new restaurants having opened in the past twelve months, and more are to come.

We have compiled a list of the 26 restaurants on Bree Street below.  While Kloof Street has about ten restaurants more, the Bree Street restaurants generally are of a higher standard, with only one franchised restaurant outlet on Bree Street, unlike Kloof Street.  We have started our Bree Street restaurant list from the Table Mountain side, moving down towards the harbour, the FNB building being the bottom boundary: Continue reading →
