Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 15 of Level 1, 15 October 2021

Friday 15 October 2021, day 15 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a day with a difference, posting for my clients in the morning; for a meeting at the Tidal Pool with two Lifesaving managers, after an incident with a very cheeky lifesaver a week ago; for a coriander, chive and spinach plant shop at Starke Ayres, sadly with very poor service from interns, not knowing the difference between lettuce and spinach 😱; for meeting the management of Dineplan at their offices in Dean Street Arcade in Newlands; for meeting Rose Klein and Hans-Werner Klein for tea/coffee at Harvest Café in Newlands Quarter 🌹, and meeting the owner of Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 47 of Level 3, 11 September 2021

Saturday 11 September 2021, Day 47 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a lovely day, spending most of it working, making bookings for my clients’ guests, changing bookings, replying to client reviews, posting in their Social Media channels, and photographing the Reddam Atlantic Seaboard Matric Dinner Dance at Utopia Cape Town, a non-alcoholic and non-partner one; for a walk to Woolworths to get a few things for my lovely picnic Abendbrot dinner with Gary Peterson, catching up on his exciting life and finishing his bottle of whiskey which had my name on it; for lovely rain which has started falling now; for dancing my last steps to Kfm’s Blokparty; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

I was not allowed to photograph the Reddam learners.

I have an exciting feeling about tourism starting to pick up, seeing all sorts of signs today, including hearing Germans in Woolies, not having heard it spoken in quite a while.

I’m so proud of my clients’ restaurants having done so well today. 👏

News from Havana is not good, the locals really struggling. Like us they have had hardly any tourists. The cost of getting to the USA is $5000, money the locals just dont have. 🥲😱

I woke up to a party in our building at 7h00 this morning, and am going to bed with another, both in the Ebbtide apartment 101 of Rhode Snyman, Nigerian tenant and buddies completely drunk and abusive. Police and the Camps Bay CSI have just left, with a warning.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, and returned to Level 3 on 26 July, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.

Sweet Service Award goes to Camps Bay Hardware; Sour Service Award goes to the Nigerians in Camps Bay!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Camps Bay Hardware and its owner Jared Stein, who organised and delivered to my home a tap I needed for the water supply to my pool within one hour of enquiring about it, an item he had to collect from elsewhere.  His service is community-driven, and always fantastic. Thursday 2 September 2021, Day 38 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for another fabulous day, starting at zero and ending at 100; for surviving the fourth sleep disturbance night in a row thanks to the Nigerians; for my pool working perfectly now; for preparing for my status meetings of this afternoon; for a Bakoven walk; for a shopping trip condensed into an hour, fetching my rolls at Dinkel Bakery, buying my German treats at Hartlief; for a treat of Appeltaart and cream at Labotessa Café, and a surprise gift from owner Johan of the fabulous Continue reading →
