The Top 10 Women Chefs in Cape Town and the Winelands were announced on Women’s Day. Each winner receives a 1 litre tube of Rio Large Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
On Saturday my friend Gary Peterson and I did a road trip to the Winelands, delivering the prize of a 1 litre tube of Rio Largo Extra Virgin Olive Oil to each of the five chefs who made the 2022 Top 10 Women Chefs.
Our first stop was at Le Lude in Franschhoek, and we were lucky that Chef and owner Nicolene Barrow was in her Orangerie restaurant, as she almost always is. Continue reading →
SA Olive and its sponsor Absa announced the Absa Top 10 Olive Oil Awards last week. Absa’s participation in and support of the Awards reflects that it is committed to South African agriculture and promotes the development of South African Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).
In accordance with the rules of the annual Awards, which have been awarded for the 8th time this year, ten different olive oils must be recognised, ‘to support the development of the South African olive oil industry by maximising exposure and opportunities for local EVOO producers.’ Continue reading →
At the SA Olive Oil Awards held outside Paarl earlier this week, 36 extra virgin olive oils received Gold Awards, while 53 Silver and 11 Bronze medals were awarded.
