Restaurant Review: Coco Safar opens second Sea Point Branch, not yet ready for clients, more to come in SA and USA!

 

Coco Safar Pâtisserie and Restaurant has opened a second branch in Sea Point, now also at St John’s Piazza, with plans for a number of further store openings in South Africa as well as in the USA.

Coco Safar first opened in Cavendish in Claremont in 2016, and it is here that I met South African owner Wilhelm Liebenberg, who had returned to his home country after many years.

He and his Canadian partner Caroline Sirois opened a deluxe boutique outlet selling bespoke luxury coffees as well as Rooibos teas, each variant named after a world city, and the ultimate in Pâtisserie offerings. Continue reading →

Paris Cape Town brings French Boulangerie and Pâtisserie to Sea Point – generous prices, great variety!

In only two weeks Paris Cape Town has become such a hit that it was sold out of most of its breads when I arrived at the Boulangerie and Pâtisserie on Sunday.  It is truly French, with French owner Laurent, and French baker Thierry, previously of Cassis.

I have been to Paris Cape Town three times, discovering a new treat each time.

Fideli’s Deli opens its doors to freshness and finest foods and wines to enjoy, or to take home!

 

Yesterday Fideli’s opened on Parliament Street on Church Square in the City centre, a very fine Deli as well as eating and drinking spot next door to Pilcrow & Cleaver, both owned by the very enterprising Chef Judi Fourie. The space was previously that of Kleinsky’s. While small, it spills out into a covered side section, almost doubling its size. I have not seen such beautiful presentation of food and beverages in a Deli before, as I did at Fideli’s yesterday.

I became the first customer of the new Fideli’s, as I was looking for a gift to take to a lunch I was heading to, but of course could not resist filling up my own pantry with some of the delectable items. Continue reading →
