The V & A Waterfront has issued a commemorative issue of its Winter 2021 magazine to honour ‘30 years of hope, connection and the best of the V & A’.

It is a reflection on the history of the establishment of the Waterfront in 1990 as well as its growing expansion and development, the harbour area which has become South Africa’s most popular tourist attraction. Continue reading →

Western Cape Province and Wesgro invite locals to visit the Cape with #WeAreOpen campaign!

 

September has traditionally become Tourism Month, starting with Spring Day on 1 September. While the weather is not playing along for visitors at the moment, it is heartening to see the Western Cape Province and Wesgro working together to invite South Africans to visit the Cape, launching its #WeAreOpen’ marketing campaign today.

Coinciding with the start of Tourism Month is the reopening of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, as well as the Two Oceans Aquarium. A host of museums throughout the province have opened too.  Continue reading →

Corona Virus: V&A Waterfront closes key attractions, but continues to trade!

 

After a crisis meeting on Tuesday, the management of the V & A Waterfront has announced the temporary closure of the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Zeitz MOCAA Museum, as well as the cancellation of all public events at its precinct, in its reaction to the National Disaster announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday. Other internal measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 Virus were announced by the biggest tourist attraction in our country to its tenants yesterday. Continue reading →

Jonas Blue’s ‘Perfect Strangers’ hit music video puts Cape Town on the tourism map!

perfect-stranger-lions-headIt was in the UK in July that I saw the music video for ‘Perfect Strangers’ by record producer Jonas Blue for the first time, and I could not believe that all of it was filmed in Cape Town, doing an amazing tourism marketing job for our city, as the song edges closer to the top of international music charts!
