Introducing 2022 Top 10 Woman Chef Nicolene Barrow of Orangerie Restaurant

 

On Saturday my friend Gary Peterson and I did a road trip to the Winelands, delivering the prize of a 1 litre tube of Rio Largo Extra Virgin Olive Oil to each of the five chefs who made the 2022 Top 10 Women Chefs.

Our first stop was at Le Lude in Franschhoek, and we were lucky that Chef and owner Nicolene Barrow was in her Orangerie restaurant, as she almost always is. Continue reading →

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

ARD movie ‘Einfach Rosa – Wolken über Kapstadt’ shows picturesque Cape Town!

Einfach RoaYesterday evening ARD, the largest TV station in Germany and second largest broadcaster in the world, screened a movie ‘Einfach Rosa – Wolken über Kapstadt’ (‘Simply Rosa – clouds over Cape Town’), a most beautiful representation of Cape Town, and comes at a most welcome time to attract German tourists to our beautiful city and neighboring towns. It was filmed in Cape Town earlier this year.

Twelve Apostles Hotel Sweet and MyCiTi Bus Sour Service Awards!

12 Apostles Hotel viewThe Sweet Service Award goes to the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa, and its concierge Masood Sadulla, for assisting our Whale Cottage Camps Bay guests Shadé Potgieter and Nick Brenner in getting from our guest house to the hotel to attend a wedding last weekend.  They had not rented a car and had thought that they could get there on foot.  There was no charge levied for the shuttle service, and the offer was made to call a taxi for the guests when they wanted to return to Camps Bay.
