Sunday 12 September 2021, Day 47 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a rainy morning, ideal for staying in bed and to catch up on a very busy and at times stressful week; for the weather clearing, with a lovely sunny afternoon; for surviving a shortage of sleep after a massive noise disturbance by the Nigerian tenant of Rhode Snyman’s Ebbtide 101 apartment after midnight, having to call the police and the security company; for a lovely refreshing longer, more exerting walk in Camps Bay; for starting to write some Blogposts for the week ahead; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

Super excited that Utopia is one of three nominees for the World Culinary Awards’ Best Rooftop Restaurant in Africa! Just a few weeks after making the Kfm Top 5 Date Night Restaurant in the Cape. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Kelly Szabo for spotting it. 🙏

I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.

Meet Chef CharnĂŠ Sampson of Epice: 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef!

Chef CharnÊ Sampson is one of the youngest 2021 Top 10 Women Chefs, and heads up the kitchen at Epice at Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek. She wins a bottle of Adhara Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I was unable to meet her as she was ill on Sunday, when I delivered her prize.

Chef CharnÊ graduated from Silwood in 2016. She did her internship at Myoga, Woolworths, Waterkloof, The Test Kitchen, and at La Colombe. She stayed on at La Colombe, until 2019, when she was given the opportunity to head up Epice.

Epice is one of a number of restaurants in the La Colombo restaurant group. Chef CharnÊ took the restaurant to Best New Restaurant in Africa in the inaugural World Culinary Awards.  Epice is a fine dining restaurant, its dishes flavour-filled with spices.
