The Dalla Cia family of Stellenbosch, synonymous with Grappa, has launched a 10 Year Celebration Grappa, which was distilled in 2004 and has been barrel-matured for the past ten years. The launch of the special Grappa celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Dalla Cia Wine & Spirit Company.
Father and son Giorgio and George Dalla Cia created the anniversary Grappa, and continues a tradition started by Vittorio Dalla Cia, father of Giorgio, in Friuli in Italy in the ‘Twenties. George Dalla Cia is the custodian of the secret family recipe over almost hundred years of their sought-after Grappa.
The anniversary Grappa was made from fermented Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape skins, and the blend was matured over the ten-year period in new 225 liter French oak barrels. Hand bottled and labeled, only 1000 signed and numbered 500ml bottles are available. The Dalla Cia family crest has been fixed onto the neck of the bottle with a leather cord. Each bottle is wrapped in Nappa suede, and packaged in a cylindrical container. The price of a bottle of Dalla Cia 10 Year Celebration Grappa is R2325, and is available from Dalla Cia Distillery in Stellenbosch.
