TimeOut has named Cape Town one of its 53 Best Cities in the world, nominated by 20000 city-dwellers subscribing to the publication.

I am proud to be one of the subscribers who nominated our city, asked to identify the top restaurants and bars, theatre, art galleries, the nightlife, and the cool neighborhoods. In its calculation of the  TimeOut Index 2022, the publication added the livability of the city as a resident as well as a tourist this year.

Cape Town was ranked 11th Best City in the world, following Edinburgh, Chicago, Medellín (in Colombia), Glasgow, Amsterdam, Prague, Marrakech, Berlin, Montreal, and Copenhagen.

Cape Town is praised for its good food, culture, mountains, beaches, nightlife. It highlights how great our city is for its outdoor life, including swimming in Clifton, Camps Bay, Muizenberg, and Simonstown, and hiking in Newlands Forest, Cecilia Forest, and Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. The city’s theatre life is highlighted, naming the Baxter and Artscape.

Of all the 53 cities in the TimeOut ranking Cape Town ranked second highest in the world on its beauty. Our city ranked highest in the world on ease of relaxation, and 93% of locals rated it highly on the variety of things to do.
