Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 27C day, with a breeze now; for a very organized working morning, breaking up what had to be done into time slots; for Imtiaz checking in for duty, removing weeds in the Stream at the Tidal Pool 🙏; for a good meeting with my client; for a late afternoon walk up to Maiden’s Cove and back, the breeze cooling things down and earning me 500 Miles today; for a phone chat to Stuart Bailey and Jenny Stephens; for making 1900 Discovery Miles in the first week of this year; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was about the new World Culinary Awards, and a Cape Town restaurant winning Best of Africa Restaurant. I am however somewhat sceptical about the Awards.

La Colombe named 2020 Best South African and African Restaurant in inaugural World Culinary Awards!

I am so grateful that bookings at my client’s restaurant are going well, given the dreadful conditions under which the industry is operating 😊. I tried one of their Strawberry Daiquiri mocktails which I needed the photograph of. A guest is celebrating a 21st this evening, and so life carries on.

Town is terribly quiet. I popped in at the Pick n Pay across the road on Strand Steeet, and photographed some beautiful houses in Bo-Kaap. I popped in at Fideli’s, and bought an Avo. It was the first use of my car in a week.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
