Tuesday 1 June 2021, Day 2 of Adjusted Level 2 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Gratitude for a very early start to the day, after Loadshedding last night, still being wide awake, and getting some of my work done already; for surviving on little sleep today; for a quick walk at lunchtime; for being well-prepared for my long meeting afternoon at the New Kings Hotel in the Piazza da Luz, my first day on the Communications job; for a quick shop at Woolies Piazza da Luz; for a Bakoven walk at sunset, catching a huge splash pic; for the fabulous service once a month from Mike at BP President, checking and cleaning everything for me; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙

I wrote my Blogpost very early this morning, having seen the news just before Loadshedding that Food Writer Sonia Cabano had passed away yesterday. I suffered badly under her Twitter abuse for two years, not having yet learnt at that stage to not allow myself to be affected by it. May she RIP.

RIP Tempestuous Food Writer Sonia Cabano!

The New Kings Boutique Hotel is now 4 star graded, and I was shown the three room categories by the Hotel GM Martine. It was our first marketing meeting too, joined by the new chefs Scott Melvin and Kyle Conradie of the Zest Restaurant in the Hotel, belonging to Chef Pavel Dimitrov. Renovations will soon be complete, the new restaurant opening on 15 June. It’s going to be a busy two weeks.

I used a full tank of petrol in May, the first time since the start of Lockdown.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
