Corona Gratitude
#Grateful for another beautiful, but grey and chilly day; for the longest sleep in ages, at over 9 hours throughout the day; for receiving a Discovery Gameboard play, and it reducing its points score for eligibility to only 300, its second drop since Lockdown; for the fabulous Zoom 90 minute video conference with fellow guides and a Canadian Tour Operator representative; for the beautiful sunsets this evening; for keeping warm by dance-walking to Kfm, and hot tea with a sip of Nuy brandy; and for being happy and healthy. 💙
I wrote a Blogpost about SA’s Big Cheese and other top dairy products, awarded virtually for the first time ever, in the 2020 SA Dairy Championships.
The Zoom 90 minute Video Conference with my Canadian Tour Operator and 3 other tourist guides, from Basel, Oslo, Bilboa, and our conference leader Vinita in Mumbai, was fabulous. Amazing to share our Lockdown experiences, we being more fortunate than France, where they have to get a permit for each time they leave their home to go shopping or to do their 1 hour 1 km max exercise per day. All the countries represented are allowed walking and exercising outside. Weird was that four of us live at or close to an ocean or lake, and three of us are Sagittarians. Three of us are German in origin. We exchanged guiding experiences, and asked a lot of questions (I especially), as this is the first time ever that the company has reached out to us. 👏👏👏

Discovery has been very communicative today, sending an email about isolation rooms in hotels it has secured at vast discounts, about its discounted car insurance premiums, and the reduced Vitality point requirement. I received a measly 50 points (worth R5) on the Gameboard, meaning it will take me about 2 months to reach 1000 points (R100 voucher) 🥵. I jumped at the chance to join Discovery Insure, and could do half the questions, when I was instructed to call. The recorded message told me that their staff complement has been reduced and that I should communicate via their website! But I did get to speak to someone, who spoke far toooo fast and whom I could not understand most of the time. I asked him to send the quote by email, which he did, so I didn’t understand why they can’t do that in the first place. #SogoodSobad 🥵

The Corona Virus Lockdown, announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, and subsequently extended to 30 April, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
