Corona Gratitude

#Grateful for another beautiful, but grey and chilly day; for the longest sleep in ages, at over 9 hours throughout the day; for receiving a Discovery Gameboard play, and it reducing its points score for eligibility to only 300, its second drop since Lockdown; for the fabulous Zoom 90 minute video conference with fellow guides and a Canadian Tour Operator representative; for the beautiful sunsets this evening; for keeping warm by dance-walking to Kfm, and hot tea with a sip of Nuy brandy; and for being happy and healthy. 💙 Continue reading →

SA Dairy Championships 2020 Awards presented virtually for the first time, Lactalis SA Président Extra Mature Cheddar Dairy Product of the Year!

 

Due to the Corona Virus Lockdown in our country, the 2020 SA Dairy Championships Award Ceremony was held virtually for the first time in the 187 year existence of the Championships. Lactalis SA’s PrĂ©sident Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese was named the 2020 South African Dairy Product of the Year, winning against 974 other brands from 74 manufacturers. A total of 23 brands received the QualitĂ© mark of excellence of top achievement (see list below), and 107 were named SA Champion. Continue reading →

Babylonstoren 2 opens as The Newt in Somerset in the UK, celebrates local produce, history, and beauty!

 

It was by chance that I heard about The Newt in Somerset opening in the UK last year, a property which Babylonstoren owners Koos Bekker and Karen Roos bought in 2013 as Hadspen House, renaming the renovated estate, and turning it into a property similar to Babylonstoren outside Franschhoek.
