Corona Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for a wonderful warm start to the day, with a beautiful pink sunrise; for listening to Kfm all day, and hearing at 8h32 that Utopia Cape Town is one of 5 finalists in the Best Date Night Restaurant category, with voting starting tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️; for a busy working and writing day, happy that it was so organized due to the writing I did yesterday, breaking it with a exerting walk up Houghton Road and down Camps Bay Drive; for a sunset Bakoven walk, it having become chilly as the clouds rolled in, with rain due to start overnight, and with us for three days ☔️; for a good Zoom meeting of the Camps Bay Ratepayers Association committee; and for being happy, healthy and free 🙏💙
My Blogpost today was about Klein JAN and Wolfgat Restaurants making the Conde Nast Traveller list of Most Beautiful Restaurants in the World.
Kfm is honouring a range of businesses, services, suppliers, tourism players, and restaurants through its Best of the Cape Awards. The categories have a range of finalists from Cape Town as well as from smaller towns in our province.
Utopia is up against Homespun by Matt in Blouberg in the Date Night Restaurant in the main, so Homespun owner Chef Matt Schreuder and I had a very collegial chat about facing each other in this category. His Andros Hotel branch in Claremont is doing extremely well, and he is reaping amazing benefits of local and international recognition from this new location. So proud of him. 👏👏👏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, and returned to Level 3 on 26 July, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
