Tuesday 2 February 2021, Day 38 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 314 of Lockdown.

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 28C wind-free day, as if specially designed to celebrate the reopening of beaches today, the Camps Bay Beach and Tidal Pool being busy, as was Victoria Road; for the car guards smiling in being kept busy and earning tips, and no doubt the restaurants and supermarkets benefiting too; for a meeting with another prospective Communications client, which led to a second prospective client……. all too good to be true 😱; for fetching my laundry and shopping at Woolies on Regent Road in Sea Point; for a walk on the Camps Bay Promenade and Tidal Pool area with Imtiaz, there being lots of litter to pick up, there being so many picnickers; for lovely dancing music on Kfm Dansdag; for learning how business works, after many decades of not working for clients; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I had a busy Admin and Social Media morning, until I had to leave to meet the prospective client, a new restaurant, the exciting part of it being creating a name and communications for it from scratch.

I was sad to hear that the guest house cancelled the Communications campaign, it having received some bad news impacting on their business. How lucky was my meeting with the two prospective clients therefore. I need to learn that nothing is forever, and that promises made can change, due to external circumstances.

I must have missed the announcement in the President’s speech last night that we no longer have to wear masks! Mask-wearing was down to 1% in Camps Bay today. 😱🥵

After less than 24 hours I wished for the beaches to be closed again, with the amount of litter to be picked up. 😱. I was shocked by the opportunism of Law Enforcement in Camps Bay, which has been invisible for the past month, ticketing every Beachgoer having parked on Victoria Road in Bakoven. And then one of them double parked in one lane outside my home to ticket some more cars, with no respect for cars having to pass! And a massive roadblock at Maidens Cove at lunchtime, which I managed to get through……. what on earth could they have been looking for? And a Camps Bay homeless couple were completely drunk, he threatening to kill her, he shouted at the top of his voice on Victoria Road. 🥵🥵🥵

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, and extended but relaxed on 1 February, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
