Tuesday 10 November 2020, Day 51 of Level 1, Day 229 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a sunny warmer day, with a mild South Easter this afternoon; for a busy writing day; for a tea meeting at Firefly Café with Ryan Rudy, who heads up the Camps Bay Community Security Initiative; for a meeting with Chris Willemse, Chairman of the Camps Bay and Clifton Ratepayers Association, and Alma Horn, at their home, to be briefed on my Marketing role as a new member of the Management Committee; for harvesting three huge beetroot from the veg garden today; for posting my second SwitchBitch book to Marianne Busche in Johannesburg, so easy via Aramex courier at Pick n Pay; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
My long Blogpost today was about Day 1 of the Wellington Wine Walk, not just about wine, but about olives, olive oil, Buchu and country meals too.
Wellington Wine Walk far more than about wine, about olives, gin and Buchu too – Day 1
Ryan has started the Community Steward Programme in Camps Bay, in which vetted homeless persons are given the job of guarding cars and receiving donations for it. He started with 18 persons 5 weeks ago, and is up to 30 now. Other suburbs want to follow the example of Camps Bay. The next step is a similar scheme in employing Homeless persons to clean up litter, so we chatted about where the hotspots are, and which the best days are. He and I will do a litter walk-about next week.
Lewis and Ricardo are two of the car guards that I speak to almost daily, and they helped me get a green dustbin out of the stream at the Tidal Pool 🙏. It has a heavy cement base and could not have blown into the stream. 😱🥵

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
