Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 21C day; for an uninterrupted 7,5 hours sleep, earning the FitBit praise of ‘Good’, not earned often from the tracker; for an amazing email of praise from Councillor Nicola Jowell for the work I do in Camps Bay, with lovely comments to it❤️; for an easy Blogpost to write today; for a special walk to Camps Bay today , to congratulate the staff of Maison J on their second anniversary in Camps Bay, thanks to the Facebook Memory, the staff overjoyed when I brought a little gift to the owner David Chait and to the Manager, for always spoiling us locals; for a peaceful afternoon at home, snoozing in the sun, feeling just like a cat, curled up and …. almost purring… 😻; for a walk through Bakoven, 2000 steps lost as I forgot to put on my tracker after charging it 😱; for calls to Stuart Bailey and Jenny Stephens; for a lovely chat to Bukeka at Absolute Pets, she and Michele teaching me so much about cats; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was a write-up about my lunch last week at Latitude Café on the 9th floor of the Latitude ApartHotel in Sea Point. Good value for money and friendly service, with good hygiene protocol.

I saw a Pick n Pay trolley on my walk, and it alerted me to a Homeless structure removed on Sunday which has already been rebuilt. I reported it to Law Enforcement Ivor Ransay and to Councillor Nicola. And I returned the trolley to Pick n Pay.

This is what Councillor Nicola wrote, I not being able to achieve anything without her support and links to the City Council departments, and the support of the Camps Bay locals. ❤️ :

‘I really cannot thank Chris von Ulmenstein quite enough for her daily community service to Camps Bay and her phenomenal assistance to me. On some days its walking to the shops with a bag to collect litter, on other days is 10 000 steps whilst walking to pick up litter, on other days its securing donations to pay a person(s) to assist in cleaning up the litter, and then even on other days it a 5 hour hard labour stint of cleaning pavements after the storms. Your time and energy devoted to a beautiful Camps Bay is inspiring and certainly makes me want to work harder to continue to strive towards a beautiful area. And thank you Chris for your regular notifications if anything needs to be fixed, attended to or escalated. Or tracking issues we have discussed together and are resolving. Sometimes it takes us a bit longer to resolve some of the issues and some will need ongoing interventions. But I am grateful to you for working together with me on these issues and for always being my eye and ears on the ground! I am indeed in your debt and appreciate working together for the benefit of the entire area’

The Speech by our ‘Principal’ at 20h00 tonight, as Kfm called him this afternoon, is the quickest one after a previous one since Lockdown, he having dropped a bombshell 11 days ago in his last speech. Will need some 🍷🍷🍷.

President Ramaphosa announces that public schools are to close from 27 July, for up to a month, and that strict action will be taken against Covid-19 fund and supply corruption!

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
