Sunday 22 November 2020, Day 63 of Level 1, Day 242 of Lockdown . 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a very relaxed day, after sleeping late due to watching German TV too late last night; for a lovely laidback Brunch at Manna Epicure with Vivian Warby, both of us wanting to get out of the Camps Bay busyness; for a walk through Camps Bay, reasonably busy, but the wind picking up sent some visitors packing up and returning home earlier, sadly with litter left behind; for very courteous service by a new cashier at Pick n Pay when I went to buy the Daily Maverick 168; for a long birthday call to my cousin Ulrike Payne in Germany; for a chat with Stuart Bailey, so happy that his new Fat Harry’s restaurant is doing so well; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

Manna Epicure was not very full, so we were well-spaced inside the restaurant. I was looking forward to their coconut bread toast, which I had many years ago, and it did not taste as good as I remember it. But everything else on my Breakfast plate was perfect. Vivian went more Lunchy with an adapted Caesar Salad. There was a very noisy group of performers outside, so one of the other diners paid for their silence. As we drove past them later, they waved at me, saying that they recognize me from Camps Bay, where they perform outside Caprice/The 41. Vivian thought that my ‘fame’ in Camps Bay was very funny. 😂

We drove up and down Kloof Street, so that I could show Vivian all the restaurants which I had discovered on Friday. #ARidewithaGuide

It looks like we are heading back to winter for the next few days.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
