Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a warm day caused by the pre-rain Berg wind, a winter week lying ahead of us from this evening; for Joel coming to help me clean up in Bakoven and Camps Bay; for seeing Eugene van Eck running past my home, doing a half marathon all the way from the Waterfront; for a relaxed afternoon; for a dinner spoil with Katie Friedman lying ahead; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
It’s gusting outside, and the temperature has dropped, a lot of the Veg garden top soil lying outside my door.
On our cleaning walk we saw a massive City truck parked on the Promenade pavement with a massive water pipe leading to some sewerage drains, making a dreadful noise, apparently as of 6h00 this morning, directly opposite the Bay Hotel and Kove Collection restaurants. The restaurants are struggling so, and I was really annoyed that they chose the best business day of the week to chase customers away.
I picked up a croissant at Maison J for tomorrow, rain throughout the day forecast, with little likelihood of escaping home tomorrow. ☔️
I’ll report back about dinner later tonight.
Dinner was at a surprise venue I had never been to, Katie Friedman having checked on my Blog if I had ever eaten at Belly of the Beast on Harrington Street. What a surprise to see Chef Rikku ODonnchu of the former Exhibit A restaurant there too, in the full restaurant. Excellent value, the eight-course meal costing R450. Every course is a surprise, no choices being offered other than dietary requirements. An excellent Red Grapetiser blend offered too. Covid protocols were observed, with hands sanitized and temperature taken, and client details taken on booking.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
