Sunday 4 July 2021, Day 7 of Level 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for another peaceful and relaxed day; for surviving another noise disturbance in the early hours of this morning, getting about 6 hours of sleep in total; for an admin morning, planning my week ahead, and writing some Blogposts; for a Woolies walk; for savouring the sun when it came out this afternoon; for a loooong chat with Michele Antelme, like we used to have in the early Lockdown days last year, such a treat; for a late afternoon sunset Bakoven walk, a few drops of rain falling; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

Late this morning I went to confront Franklin renting the EbbTide party apartment 201 belonging to Sacha Jack. When the Camps Bay CSI arrived here at 1h30 this morning, he was lights out in his bed, the security people not being able to wake him. His guests were pre-celebrating his birthday today. This was the third noise disturbance in the apartment in 7 days. Franklin apologized, still in Pyjamas, and begged me to forgive him for having 6 guests stay over for the party tonight. He promised that the music would be soft, I being skeptical, as its was blaring this morning already. He promised that it would be the last party until he leaves at the end of September.

I walked through the garage when I went for my walk, and saw it chock n block with cars, six in total – we only have 2 bays each – including a Rolls Royce and a passenger van, so I marched back up to his apartment again. He was dressed for a change, I not recognizing him in his matching Gucci sneakers, T shirt and track suit. He told me that they would party at a penthouse that they rented elsewhere for the night, and won’t disturb me! I walked past their garbage bags to get to his front door, and they were full of Veuve Clicquot boxes. So I cheekily told him that he owes me a bottle of Veuve. He ran up to his fridge and brought me a Rosé Rich (costs R999) with 1000 apologies again! It is deadly quiet now, as the party of about 20 has moved to the other venue. I’ve sent the apartment owner two R10000 invoices for today’s noise disturbance and blocking of my car. 😱🥵 This is my first Nigerian renter experience, Franklin telling me that he wants his dad to buy the apartment. His dad was a senior politician in Nigeria, he told me.

Weirdly my lights are not working yet the plugs are. Luckily I have Loadshedding solar lamps.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June  is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
