Tuesday 23 November 2021, Day 54 of Level 1. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a day with a difference, with a 4h30 start, cramming in a day full of work until I left home at 10h00; for proudly wearing my Tourist Badge for the first time; for my first Tourist Guiding in 19 months, fetching German couple Cornelia and Wolfgang from the V&A Hotel and walking towards the city centre through a very quiet Silo District, they having a glass of bubbly at Utopia, showing them the wonderful 15th floor view and giving them an overview of ‘my Cape Town’ from the map of our city; for a walk through Bo Kaap, still very quiet, only seeing one tourist group at Atlas Trading; for walking all the way to the City Hall and the statue of Nelson Mandela after popping in at Labotessa Café, just to show them; and then calling Bolt, my first experience and what a lovely driver, only R38 back to the Waterfront for the three of us, being exhausted by then and not having the energy to walk all the way back 😱; for showing them the four leaders of our country who have received Nobel Peace Prizes: Albert Luthuli, Desmond Tutu, FW de Klerk (we gave him
a farewell drukkie), and Nelson Mandela; spoiling myself with a Lindt ice cream cone, so exhausted and thirsty, requesting a cup of water at Lindt too, denied by the cashier initially 😱; and for being healthy and free. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was about the next non-payment scam linked to the name of ‘cook or crook’ Conrad Gallagher 😱

I can’t remember that I’ve ever been so tired after a tour. I feel drained, partly due to the little sleep last night. Early to bed. 🛌

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, and returned to Level 1 on 1 October is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
