The Sweet Service Award goes to iFix and their technician Theodore Ellis, who assisted with a problem when I could not get the photographs on my iPhone to download onto my laptop. Theodore assisted me immediately when I arrived, tested the phone and the laptop, and suggested that there may be too many photographs on the phone (MasterChef SA being to blame!). I spent an hour deleting about 1000 photographs, and was relieved when the download worked fine in time for the Finale of MasterChef SA last Wednesday. He did not charge for his service.
The Sour Service Award goes to the V&A Waterfront, for having no understanding of how the building work in their mall is inconveniencing its shoppers. Building a new Pick ‘n Pay in the underground parking area, the building contractors are taking over an increasing number of parking bays for their supply storage and construction activities, leaving fewer bays for customers to park in. Last Sunday the V&A was particularly busy due to poor weather, which meant that parking was almost impossible to find, many shoppers being very irate. To crown it, the construction staff were moving bags of cement amongst shoppers, without consideration to them, on the second floor of the mall. When Tweeting this, the V&A Tweeter Emma Jackson, whom we know to be cheeky and rude, did not apologise but instead justified it on the basis of ‘we’re in process of making some great changes‘, and ‘…improvements are ultimately for our customers. We can’t remain the same forever. Change is necessary‘, she Tweeted, missing the point of the customer inconvenience completely, and that all shoppers may not be looking forward to an even bigger Pick ‘n Pay or to any other changes that may benefit the V&A and not necessarily its customers!
