The impact of the new Visa regulations on the Tourism industry is making itself felt, with a 13 % decline in international tourist arrivals for the period June 2014 (the month in which the new regulations were implemented) to June this year.
The biggest decline has come from the markets most directly affected by the requirement of the new Visa regulations, being China (a 28% decline) and India (down by 25% in the past year). Arrivals from Brazil have declined by 10%.
Of concern is that traditional source markets showed a decline in June too. Tourist arrivals from Germany dropped by 12%, from the USA by 9%, and from the UK by 8%. Tourist arrivals from Australia, Canada, and The Netherlands have also declined.
