The Sweet Service Award goes to all the restaurant chefs, kitchen staff, bar staff, and waitrons in Cape Town and the Winelands, who gave up their own New Year’s Eve celebrations to ensure that their patrons had a sparkling start to the New Year.
The Sour Service Award goes to the City of Cape Town, for a ‘power fault’ in Camps Bay, Bakoven, and Clifton on New Years Eve, according to City of Cape Town Councillor Jacques Weber! The outage occurred just after 19h00, and carried on for more than four hours, when the restaurants in the suburbs affected were wanting to serve and entertain their guests, who had paid huge sums of money to party in Camps Bay in particular, and to see in the New Year!

if it happened in Khayelitsha or Gugulethu, would you still have given them the sour service award?
A rather silly question Jenny, given that none of our Camps Bay guests booked New Years Eve parties in the townships, at the cost of R1000 and more per person.
But a lot of people in those areas also had parties, or is it only your guests’ enjoyment that warrants notice?
There was no power outage in the townships, so your comment makes no sense at all!
