Sweet Service Award goes to SA Tourism; Sour Service Award goes to WebAfrica!

The Sweet Service Award goes to South African Tourism, for its impactful and emotive commercials it created, aimed at future tourists to our country. It is entitled ‘Don’t Travel now. So you can travel later’.  One commercial uses Sport images and analogies to show how determined our country is in winning, not only in sports such as cricket and swimming, but also as a nation. Another shows the beauty of our country, including Bo-Kaap, flower sellers in Cape Town, Camps Bay with the backdrop of the Twelve Apostles, and Johannesburg, inviting locals to travel in our own country as soon as travel is allowed again .

The Sour Service Award goes to WebAfrica, for its extremely poor Call Centre ‘customer service’, one hanging on and hanging on, no matter which option one chooses. I called them yesterday, to try to change the package I’m on, and tried Sales first. While the assistant was friendly, she could not hear me properly on the phone despite me hearing her perfectly. The call cut out a number of times. Finally she could not download my usage information in her system, which made me wonder how good an internet service the company provides if it is not even working efficiently in its own company.  She put me through to Technical Support but no one took the call. An automated service invited me to press 1, so that they can call me back. Close to 20 hours later I am still waiting to hear from them!
