The Sweet Service Award goes to the City of Cape Town, and its Water Department, which called me at 21h00 on the same day on which I saw a water leak on Victoria Road in Camps Bay and reported it to Councillor Nicola Jowell. The call was to determine the exact location of the leak. Two days later I walked past the spot again, and was happy to see that the leak had been fixed.
The Sour Service Award goes to the SA Government, and its Departments of International Relations and Cooperation and Home Affairs, for making such a shambles of the Media Conference on Wednesday afternoon, a few hours before our country was reopening its borders to International Tourists. The published media statement by Minister Naledi Pandor did not contain the list, which was just read out, and the initial list when finally published had left out the countries starting with the letters A, B, and C! The Department of Home Affairs followed up with its media statement, apologising for the errors, and listed the final 60 Red List countries from which Leisure Tourists may not enter our country!
