Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, even if it was accompanied by the most incredibly strong South Easter, a first sign of Summer; for a very relaxed day; for getting some end of the month admin done; for buying electricity at half the rate of the past; for our Kalahari Biltong shop having reopened, and going to support them with a droë wors treat, when I did a Camps Bay walk; for the City of Cape Town having repaired the leak on the Beachfront; for a lovely warming up snooze in bed, watching a movie, being so cold this afternoon; for the arrival of the first international tourists at Cape Town International today; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

The South Easter blew over one of my pot plants and a chair on the terrace, coming in strong gusts. The sand on the lawn at the Tidal Pool bit into my legs as if they were needles, and my hair is full of sand. I had warned Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay of the strength of the wind in Camps Bay, so I went to say hello to him and he laughed when he saw me, agreeing that it is stronger than the one in Muizenberg where he lives. In the Camps Bay Whats App Group a 1000 liter water tank was reported to have blown into the ocean here. At Saunders Beach a Garage door of a building was ripped off. And at Mouille Point a sculpture bench fell over and was damaged as a result of the wind. 😱 Currently the wind is blowing at 53 km/hour, the top speed of the gusts probably exceeding 100 km/hour.

The Power Audit done by Power Measurement, the suppliers of our electricity, led to us being put onto a different electricity package with the City of Cape Town, no longer having to pay a service charge (as of today) and our electricity charge has been reduced by a third! I got double the units of electricity than before. I wish that this could have been done two years ago when I moved in here. Sadly the Body Corporate electricity cost is massive, and its rate cannot change.

The highlight of today was reading an email about me, sent by our Sandak-Lewin Portfolio Manager, but not intended to be seen by me. 😂

I was meant to go out to eat and dance, but it’s a stay at home and get into bed early night, despite it being First Thursday 💃. Finishing my steps to my playlist and then another movie. The fur babies were also home-bound most of the day. 😻😻

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
