Sweet Service Award goes to Woolworths; the Sour Service Award goes to Pick n Pay!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Woolworths for removing all plastic shopping bags from its stores from 9 November. Shoppers will have to bring their own bags along when they go shopping from that date onwards, a commendable environmental step forward!

The Sour Service Award goes to Pick n Pay Camps Bay, for its increasing decline in service. During the earlier Levels of Lockdown the service improved greatly, but it has declined down to pre-Lockdown levels. Staff are unfriendly, do not greet one, and it appears that local residents are discriminated against especially. The queue spacing is less than one meter, customers eat their food in the queue, removing their masks, and bundles of customers got to the till at a time, meaning that one stands closer to other customers when paying. The store prices are climbing rapidly, many items now more expensive than Woolworths. Last week I bought some groceries, and it took half an hour to be unsuccessful with a transaction, when I wanted to pay with Discovery Pick n Pay vouchers, not even the Store Manager being able to get the transaction to work!

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog.
