The Sweet Service Award goes to Trenery in the V&A Waterfront, and its assistant Mariska de Klerk, who assisted me in finding shirts which were on sale in the right size, and for keeping them for me overnight even though the sale ones were not supposed to be kept for customers. I had explained to Mariska that due to my handbag and its content having been stolen, I would only receive a replacement credit card the following day. I have enjoyed subsequent good service from Mariska.
The Sour Service Award goes to ABSA, for its poor service in replacing my stolen Garage Card. I had my card stopped on 31 December, and was promised a replacement card (with my Platinum credit card) within 7 – 10 working days. I requested that both cards be delivered to the Sea Point branch of ABSA. I received a text message to inform me that the credit card had arrived at the Sea Point branch, and I collected it, with the headache that I had no ID documents, as they were also stolen. The bank could therefore not identify me, despite my regular interaction with the branch, and a substantial investment with the bank! An identification was finally possible via my business account which is with another branch. A bigger headache was getting the Garage card. Another text message informed me that it was at the Santyger branch. I called the number in the message, and requested that it be sent to the Sea Point branch, as requested. Not having heard anything for a few days, and needing the card to full my car with fuel, I called the number again. I had to speak to three persons to get through to the correct division handling stolen card collections. A 40 minute call to find my card confirmed that it had arrived in Sea Point. When I went to the branch, they had no record of the card! Enquiries Manager Gail made it her business to track my card, and promised delivery the following day, a week after receiving the credit card, and she was true to her word.
