Twelve Apostles Sweet and Stellenbosch Municipality Sour Service Awards!

12 Apostles buildingThe Sweet Service Award goes to the Twelve Apostles Hotel and its GM Horst Frehse and Housekeeping Manager Laaiqah Raven, for their collegiality in lending us some duvet inners and bed linen when we needed to make up twin bed rooms for a group of UK wine sales representatives staying at Whale Cottage recently.  The hotel did not charge (we have heard that this is a practice of the Mount Nelson Hotel), and the collection and return was very efficient.

Stellenbosch MunicipalityThe Sour Service Award goes to the Stellenbosch Municipality, which has been doing extensive work on Akademie Street, one of the roads in Franschhoek onto which our Whale Cottage guest house faces.  The work was noisy and sections of the road were closed, but we did not receive any notification from the municipality about the work, and how long it would take.  The final straw was that the municipality cut through six major TELKOM cables, crippling all accommodation establishments in the area as well as their usage of the internet, phone and fax lines!  The sections of the road in which the new cables were laid have not been re-tarred six months later!

The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog.  Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at  whalecot@iafrica.com.   Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog, and in the WhaleTales newsletters on the www.whalecottage.com website.
