The Sweet Service Award goes to Uber, for its most generous pre-Christmas promotional offer to its clients, for a Summer pack of a towel, Havaianas flip flops, a beach bag, and a Sunglass Hut voucher. Struggling to get the promotional code #ElectrifySummerSA to work, Uber PR executive Samantha Allenberg kept a pack aside and had it delivered, deserving of a double Sweet Service Award!
The Sour Service Award goes to Sunglass Hut in the V&A Waterfront, for its shocking service in buying a pair of sunglasses with the Uber/Sunglass Hut Summer promotion voucher. The problem arose when the two assistants on duty could not issue a valid tax invoice, and took exception about my feedback, refusing to sell me the sunglasses I had selected. I had to return the following morning, so that the manager could issue the invoice. The sunglasses were given to me in the cheapest possible plastic Rayban holder, and were not packed into a carry bag as were those sold to other customers. To report the poor service, I emailed the Customer Care department of Sunglass Hut, and called it as well. I have not received a reply from the company in the past three weeks! A generous voucher left a very sour taste!
