Meet Chef Judi Fourie of Pilcrow & Cleaver and Fideli’s: 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef!

 

Chef Judi Fourie received recognition as one of the Cape’s Top Women Restaurateurs last year. This year she has been selected as a 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef, owning both Pilcrow & Cleaver as well as Fideli’s on Parliament Street in the Cape Town city centre, as well as three Judith Fresh Cafés. She received a bottle of Adhara Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil as her prize.
Chef Judi fearlessly opened Fideli’s nine months ago, and offered a weekly menu for Pilcrow & Cleaver which one could collect or have delivered. It was the restaurant  I supported the most during Lockdown, collecting a freshly-made order combined with a friendly chat with Chef Judi, and a shop at Fdeli’s. She is an innovative marketer, most recently handing out Fideli’s vouchers as a thank you to persons who have been vaccinated. She is a trailblazer for SASSI, supporting sustainable fishing.

The Sweet Service Award goes to Pilcrow & Cleaver and Fideli’s, both owned by Chef Judi Fourie, for the kind marketing of her restaurant and Deli on Parliament Street, at the CTICC and in her restaurant, by handing out discount vouchers to those persons who are vaccinated, a win-win for both. #gratitude for a sunny day but only 17C, and a very chilly evening and a strong Southerly wind; for a busy day to catch up on all my admin, not having any meetings today; for walking to Pick n Pay Camps Bay to get an Atlantic Sun, to see the lovely article written by Shahied Joseph, about my litter cleaning in Camps Bay 🙏💙; for a late afternoon Bakoven walk; for my right hip ache of the last few days having gone; for meeting German walkers walking their cat on a lead, a ginger too, so I had to photograph the cat 🙀; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Cape Town Tourism pleads for tourism players to be vaccinated, and for the UK to remove SA from its ‘red list’!

 

In a poorly worded media statement, Cape Town Tourism has appealed to local tourism players to get vaccinated, to enhance the safety of our tourism industry, and enhance the attractiveness of Cape Town as a safe tourist destination.

It has also pleaded with the UK Government to remove SA from the ‘red list’, given that the Delta variant is now the main Covid threat, it no longer being the South African variant. Continue reading →
