Camps Bay and Sea Point Tidal Pools on ‘14 prettiest ocean pools in the world’ List!

 

Conde Nast Traveller has selected two Cape Town Tidal Pools in their list of 14 prettiest ocean pools in the world’.

The Camps Bay Tidal Pool is about 500 meters from my home, and is a favourite for me to photograph at, especially at sunset. It is one of two Cape Town Tidal pools included in the list, even though the publication chose the wrong photograph of it for its article, using the Maiden’s Cove Tidal Pool photograph. The latter Tidal Pool is also based in Camps Bay, towards Clifton.

The Sea Point Tidal Pool at Milton Beach is the second Cape Town Ocean Pool on the Condé Nast Traveller List. Continue reading →

Cape Town tourist icon Chapman’s Peak turns 100 years old!

 

The 100 year inauguration anniversary of Chapman’s Peak, or Chappies as it is known locally, was celebrated in Cape Town recently.

Work on the Drive commenced in 1915, cutting a road along a number of ridges, to connect Hout Bay and Noordhoek.  The building of the road by prisoners, at a cost of £20000, was hailed as an engineering feat when it officially opened on 6 May 1922, inaugurated as Chapman’s Peak Drive.

Motorists were offered free access through Chapman’s Peak Drive on the anniversary weekend. The normal fee for motor vehicles is R54.

Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers Summer Pop-up Food Truck opens on Camps Bay Beachfront!

 

Ten days ago Restaurateur and Camps Bay resident Ian Halfon, co-owner of the Slick Group, opened a Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers Summer pop-up Food Truck inside the parking area of the Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, not only selling their well-known burgers but also delicious ice creams and milkshakes.

The Gibson’s Food Truck is located in the centre of the Camps Bay Beachfront, clients accessing the ordering hatch via steps leading up to a platform on the Victoria Road pavement. Continue reading →
