Restaurant Review: Cabo Beach Club schizophrenic mass dining, with second Violet Restaurant, better than Shimmy !

 

My friend Gary Peterson invited me to choose a restaurant at which to celebrate my December birthday. I was eager to try Cabo Beach Club, the former Shimmy, in the Waterfront, as I needed a sounding board as I was not expecting much in respect of its food offering, despite knowing that Chef Ryan Cole of Salsify at the Roundhouse is in charge of the restaurants at Cabo. I had a feeling that this restaurant visit might become similar to the one to the renovated The Winchester Hotel and its disappointing Shoreditch Restaurant, a previous outing with Gary.

Thursday 16 July 2020, Day 46 of Level 3, after 66 days at Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful ‘Spring’ Day, wearing shorts and a sleeveless top, dressed for a hard day’s work; for the wonderful satisfaction of spending five hours in cleaning up the Camps Bay Beachfront, removing kelp and beach sand, with the help of local resident Haakon and a number of homeless persons, getting Camps Bay back into shape again after the winter storm; for Haakon’s generosity in buying coffee and croissants at Maison J, the homeless persons saying it felt as if they had come to Camps Bay on ‘holiday’, to be spoilt so ❤️❤️❤️; for the loan of a broom and spade from The Bay Hotel, and a broom from Vida ĂŠ Caffe; for no Loadshedding;  and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

#Grateful for such a beautiful sunshine day, feeling warmer than the 17C forecast, lifting the spirits immediately; for a calm and peaceful day; for Loadshedding well timed from 14h00, my writing done, allowing me a good walk, first in Camps Bay and tagging Bakoven on to it too, to pass the time; for such amazing storm scenery to photograph; for dancing to Kfm Dansdag; for a chat to Stuart Bailey, to congratulate him on a project 99% completed; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
