Sweet Service Award goes to Le Lude; Sour Service Award goes to Pick n Pay ASAP!

 

The Sweet Service Award goes to Le Lude wine estate in Franschhoek, and its Orangerie Restaurant Executive Chef Nicolene Barrow, for spoiling me with two bottles of Le Lude sparkling wine, my favourite bubbly, when I and a friend had lunch at her restaurant and I handed over a prize of a bottle of Adhara olive oil to her for being included in the 2021 Top 10 Women Chefs List. Meet Chef Isabella Niehaus of Langtafel: 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef!

 

Last year Chef Isabella Niehaus from Langtafel in Langebaan was recognised as one of our Top Women restaurateurs. This year she is recognised as one of our 2021 Top 10 Women Chefs in the Cape. She wins a bottle of Adhara Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Bella hosts wonderful Sunday lunches from her home overlooking the Langebaan Lagoon, connecting people arriving as strangers and leaving as friends. She has published the award-winning ‘Duinhuis Smake, Geure’, which was named Best in the World in the 2020 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. She also has a new e-Book ‘Isabella’s Mussel Feast’.

Meet Chef Kerry Kilpin of Tryn/Bistro 1682 at Steenberg: 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef

 

Kerry Kilpin is the Executive Chef at Steenberg, in charge of both Tryn and Bistro 1682 restaurants on the wine estate. She was selected as one of the 2021 Cape’s Top 10 Women Chefs, and receives a bottle of Adhara Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Heading up one restaurant is a challenge in itself, but heading up two restaurants and that during a pandemic which affected the restaurant industry the most through its constantly changing Lockdown regulations regarding alcohol sales, operating hours, and restaurant capacity, reflects Chef Kerry’s strength as a manager as well as a chef.
