Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 21 of Level 4, 21 May 2020.:

Thursday 21 May 2020, Day 21 of Level 4, after 35 days of Level 5. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, it being dry during Exercise Time and warm enough to walk sleeveless, with far fewer exercisers than yesterday; for focusing on my Cardio today, putting myself first, and picking up litter on my walk back home, getting as far as Clifton First Beach; for chatting to Ashleigh Fleming and her Dirk on the way back; for a morning focused on updating the Restaurant Food Delivery Facebook Group list, and for so many members inviting their Friends to the Group that we exceeded 3800 today; for the generosity once again from Jared Stein of Camps Bay Hardware in gifting me a piece of board to catproof my terrace for Minsky, Jared even dropping it off at my door; for a little drizzle this afternoon ☔️; for being featured twice in the May newsletter of the Canadian Tour Operator for whom I do the German Walking Tours of our City; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 12 of Level 4, 12 May 2020.

Tuesday 12 May 2020, Day 12 of Level 4, after 35 days of Level 5 Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a 1000 x better day today than yesterday (celebrating with a glass of wine), being focused on what I had to face and do right at the start of the day; for another beautiful day with the most exquisite sunset, despite being slightly more chilly; for another excellent Exercise Time this morning, getting to 3rd Beach in Clifton before having to turn around, and receiving another generous 300 Discovery Vitality points for the Cardio exertion ❤️; for my exercising of this past week surpasssing that of last week, averaging 15000 steps and 11 km per day; for receiving the most kind and generous service from Jared Stein of Camps Bay Hardware, when he sourced Citronella candles for me, with a village values feel; for having a busy working day; for chatting to Chef Jenny Morris, trying to encourage her to do deliveries of her Yumcious salads and pork belly; for our nurses around the world, recognized through International Nurses Day; for discovering that two German shops in Gardens are operating (Hartlief and The German Grocer); for connecting with my Alex ❤️; for dancing to Kfm this afternoon; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 8 of Level 4, 8 May 2020

Friday 8 May 2020, Day 8 of Lockdown Level 4 after 35 days of Level 5 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a long and deep sleep last night; for another beautiful day, how easy it makes the Lockdown when one sees the sun; for being able to exercise so well that my Cardio was super high and I instantly received 300 Discovery Vitality points this morning, after receiving none the last few days, despite my step total every day ❤️, it being the first morning in a week that I didn’t stop for a chat, walking with Mahmud and then (not met before) Carien from Fresnaye for parts of the way; for having Camps Bay Hardware here and open for business, sharing how well he is supported by locals who prefer to buy from him rather than a big building supply store; for getting on top of updating the Restaurant Food Delivery List, allowing myself a first Vit D sun snooze in 10 days this afternoon; for good advice to grow and publicize the Food Delivery List from Janet Pillai; for the growing number of restaurants opening, after possibly initially not thinking of doing so, and at the upper end too; for feeling really free, no longer suffering claustrophobia in my home during Lockdown; for good dancing and fun on Kfm this afternoon, and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Keeping fit whilst being confined to home during the Corona Virus Lockdown!

My biggest fear initially about our Lockdown was not being able to exercise, being a twice a day walker in my suburb of Camps Bay, thereby meeting my daily goal of 10000 steps, deemed by the American Heart Association to be the minimum we need. While I have Solo danced in my home on occasion, to make up this daily goal prior to Lockdown, I had never thought it possible to do 10000 steps, let alone even up to 16000 steps, being confined to my home.
