Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Gratitude for another day of abundance; for a beautiful warm sunny day, the wind only picking up late this afternoon, and an even more special day lying ahead tomorrow; for a successful litter Beach Clean today, with 20 garbage bags filled, one team of two filling four bags, and winning our The 41 Restaurant prize for most litter collected; for receiving a pot of tea from The 41, with everyone else that participated; for Colleen de Villiers coming to visit, so that we could have lunch at Tindlovu Camps Bay, joined by George Sax for a short while; for saying ‘goodbye’ to Maison J, which is no more, becoming OK JA tomorrow, everything changing except the coffee and tea; for Colleen coming to my home, and I then walking her back to her car; for an amazing Discovery surprise; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Nederburg Rare South African Wine Auction 2015 raises R6,2 million, very stylish event!

imageThe 41st Nederburg Rare South African Wine Auction raised a record R6,2 million over the past two days, in what is one of the highlights of the wine industry events calendar. A total of 67 wineries, four being new (Anura, Axe Hill, Bloemendal, Pella) this year, participated in the Auction.

The second highest average price per liter was achieved this year, says Nederburg Auction Manager Dalene Steyn. The trend of last year to achieving premium price continued this year, the largest number of private buyers ever creating strong competitive bidding, with an average price per liter of R576. Record price per liter was achieved for the Fortified, Cap Classique, Port, and Dry White wine categories. *   Edelweiss Air will offer two return flights per week between Cape Town and ZĂźrich during the Cape’s next summer season, in new-look interior aircraft.  New seat configurations and an in-flight entertainment system with touch screens will be available.

*   Cape Town has the potential to become a tourism link to Antarctica, an opportunity which is not being utilised at all by our tourism authorities, shows research conducted at the University of Western Cape. The 6 hour flight from Cape Town has few seats reserved for tourists, the bulk of the 35000 tourists per year arriving by ship from Argentina.  Tourism facilities are minimal on the island, and the flights are expensive, not favouring the development of tourism currently.   Cruise tourism to Antarctica via Cape Town could also be encouraged.
