Friday 25 February 2022, Day 148 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude šŸ™

#grateful for a warm day at 24C; for a working and writing morning; for booking my 2022 Discovery Health Check with DisChem for next week; for having the new spectacle script checked by optometrist Bernard Coppez, he being somewhat shocked that I’ve been driving without specs; for being delighted to hear that they offer a 20% discount for Discovery clients; for meeting a lovely lady at Coppez, possibly his wife, chatting to different clients in the shop, including me, saying she has seen me walking in Camps Bay on numerous occasions when she drives from Hout Bay to Sea Point, a fantastic ambassador; for surviving a 90 minute wait at Standard Bank Sea Point, to get a bank statement for the past year, the ATM only offering one going back for 6 months, not impressed to sit there until 16h30; for doing a retail therapy shop at Woolies at St John’s Piazza after that long wait, finding a perfect winter jacket and some food spoils; for spoiling myself with a scone, grated cheese and jam at WCafĆ© .….. mmmmm šŸ’™; for a sad/happy seeing of Celia Mauerberger as I walked past Frosted, for which she has been such an amazing ambassador ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø; for working on my return to home, going through a huge number of emails and messages; for a refreshing walk to the Tidal Pool, with a very strong wind; and for being happy, healthy and free. šŸ™šŸ’™

The Sweet Service Award went to Bernard Coppez optometrists, and the Sour Service Award went to Discovery…. again 😱

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, Ā extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, Ā returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, returned to Level 1 on 1 October, Ā and the Curfew Curfew lifted on 30 December 2021 is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.

The Sweet Service Award goes to Bernard Coppez optometrists, for assisting me in getting an appointment today, to test my script for a new pair of glasses, written by my ophthalmologist, following two eye operations. I was checking the prices of two optometrists, and the waiting time for the checking of the script, apparently a standard procedure, was one week at Riaan King Camps Bay optometrist, its prices going up each time I spoke to them. The Ā receptionist at Bernard Copper tried her best to find me a 15 minute slot, squeezing me in for today.Ā  Continue reading →

Wednesday 23 February 2022, Day 146 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude šŸ™

#grateful for a beautiful 26C day; for writing a newsletter and preparing for Client Status meetings this morning; for seeing my ophthalmologist at lunchtime, for a check up, and to receive a prescription for new specs for driving; for popping in at Discovery Sea Point a third time in one week, getting one of my three questions answered šŸ™šŸ˜±; for a day of numeric achievement, reaching 1000 followers for newkings boutique hotel, 2000 for Zest, and 2000 followers for my own account, celebrating with cupcakes in our meeting; for a quick shop at Woolies; for posting for clients this afternoon; for a Camps Bay sunset walk; for a call to my German Tourist Guiding client, about to fly to Cape Town, arranging where to meet tomorrow; for two Discovery Gameboard plays today, not having had two plays a week in a month 😱; and for being happy, healthy and free. šŸ™šŸ’™

To get a Discovery discount for my prescription specs, I have to go to Mellins, which have branches everywhere except in the city centre and Atlantic Seaboard. Claremont will be the closest branch to me. One cannot call a branch directly, all calls leading to a call centre! One has to wait for them to call you. Tomorrow I’ll compare the costs of having the specs made by my usual optometrist in Sea Point and the Discovery-discounted Mellins optometrist in Claremont. 😱

Zest regulars will be happy to hear that waitress Josie Milner is back again.

#grateful for an organized day, having two hours in which to plan my day, and getting admin duties done; for an interesting Workshop with 40 representatives of 20 sponsors of the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, which was held at Zest this morning, both Zest and newkings boutique hotel being sponsors of the Festival from 6 June to 3 July, and ended off with a light lunch prepared by Zest chefs; for getting an error fixed made last week by Discovery Sea Point; for finding KanĆ©le CafĆ© inside Continue reading →
