How safe is the Western Cape from unrest and looting today?

 

KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces are in a war zone, a politically motivated looting and arson at factories and shopping malls in the main.  These provinces are already running low on petrol, and basic food items. Residents are standing in long queues at supermarkets, to stock up.

Fortunately the Western Cape is reasonably peaceful, and the only incidents which are occurring are related to a Taxi war, two associations being in conflict with each other. This is affecting the travel of staff to and from work. Continue reading →

Tuesday 25 August 2020, Day 8 of Level 2, 152 days of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the rain we are having today, more than was forecast ☔️; for being lucky to walk to Camps Bay in a sunny window, before more rain arrived, raining now again ☔️; for 8 hours of sleep in total, even though it was in batches, after Miss Minsky had a sociable evening and came back home in the early hours of this morning 🙀; for a restaurant information scoop which became my Blogpost today; for my resting heart rate steadily dropping after it was alarmingly climbing until this weekend; for finding my shopping bag on the Camps Bay Promenade, where I had left it after sitting on it for a short walking break, giving me extra steps to have to walk back when I needed it for my Woolies’s shopping 👣😱; for dancing to Kfm Dansdag; for a chat to Jenny Stephens and Stuart Bailey; for seeing how beautiful the new Firefly Café in Camps Bay will be when it opens next week, with planters done today; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: South African Government announces drastic measures to contain and reduce COVID-19 infections!

 

At 19h40 today President Cyril Ramaphosa announced our country’s retaliatory and preventative measures against the Corona Virus, of which there are 61 cases to date, following an emergency Cabinet meeting earlier today. A National State of Disaster was announced. The President described the measures to be implemented as ‘urgent and drastic’.  Continue reading →
