Wednesday 7 October 2020, Day 17 of Level 1, Day 195 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, slightly cooler at 19C; for a long deep sleep; for receiving another delivery of ingredients for the B-Well online cooking with Chef Jennifer Morris, which turned out to be great fun, doing it alone for the first time, missing my MasterChick Jenny Stephens; for a walk to Camps Bay this afternoon, meeting with Marius Blanc and Zahrah of The 41, to discuss our next Camps Bay Beach Clean Up ón 31 October; for being able to borrow a potato peeler which I don’t own, doing so little cooking, least of all of potatoes, from Chris Papayannes at Tindlovu, as Pick n Pay does not sell them; for dancing the rest of my steps to Kfm 💃; for receiving two Discovery Gameboard plays and 360 Miles; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was about the lunch on Monday to celebrate the reopening of Chef Jenny’s Yumcious Café. Her opening Specials prices are ridiculous low. 😊

Chef Jenny Morris’ Yumcious Café reopens in Cape Quarter after a long Covid winter!

As I had the recipe of the three dishes we were to prepare in Chef Jenny’s cooking program, with an emphasis on them being healthy and Vegan-friendly, I started preparing at 16h30 already, beginning with the Rainbow Vegan Slaw, which included carrots, apple, cranberry and raisin mix, pecan nuts, red cabbage, coriander, Yellow pepper, and a cup of B-Well vegan mayonnaise. Delicious. I was happy with its plating.

The next two dishes were fried in oil: fried sweetcorn ribbons, needing the potato peeler to make the ribbons, fried golden brown; The courgette fritters were really easy to make, self-raising flour added to finely chopped courgette, with some water, and then deep fried until golden brown, delicious, not even needing oil.

Weird was receiving a call from Discovery Insure, offering me car insurance without any excess…. but I have exactly such a policy already with them.😱🥵

A new hairdressing salon is set to open in Camps Bay.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
