Friday 29 January 2021, Day 34 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 310 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude šŸ™

#grateful for a fabulous day; for 24C which felt warmer, and no wind ; for a visit by Melanie Davidow, helping her with Facebook and less so with an Instagram challenge, spoilt with a most beautiful heart and a chocolate slab from her ā¤ļø; for getting my work done on time; for a good walk with Imtiaz to show him an open field and a stream to clean on Fullham Road, the steep uphill gaining me 500 Discovery points 😱 ; for a good meeting with my prospective luxury guest house client in Camps Bay, with the good news message when I arrived home that I have been appointed to handle its Communication, as of Monday šŸ¾šŸ„‚; for a stop at Carne on Kloof Street for a delicious Tiramisu, because next-door Manna Epicure was closed already; keeping it Italian, for another fun bubbly dinner with Nick and Charlotte Zachariou, tonight at Villa 47, with an excellent 2 course special at R265 and good service, being spoilt by them yet again; for a lovely sunset as I drove through Mouille Point, having to stop to take photographs; for having such a good day that I danced in my car whilst driving home; and for being happy and healthy. šŸ™šŸ’™ Continue reading →

Sunday 11 October 2020, Day 21 of Level 1, Day 199 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude šŸ™

#Grateful for a beautiful 22C day, just perfect; for a relaxed peaceful day; for the spontaneous decision to head out to Hout Bay, and to Delish specifically, seeing their Sunday Special of Duck, my absolute favorite, and lucky to get a table at such short notice; for meeting Michelle Verhave Müller, owning the restaurant with her daughter Chef Amber, connecting with Michelle immediately, intrigued by her maiden name and the link, if any, to the late father of my Alex; for a walk through Hout Bay, not having done so in more than a year; for visiting the newish Deus ex Machina in the Kronendal building and former home of Kitima, what a culture clash 😱; for a walk up to the Camps Bay Tidal Pool, with a lot of litter to pick up there; and for being happy and healthy. šŸ™šŸ’™ Continue reading →

Cape Town and Winelands Restaurant Closures slow down, a few have reopened, new restaurants are opening – October 2020.;

Slowly the Lockdown has become the new norm, and there is little reason for Restaurants to not be open and trading, despite the lack of tourists from overseas. The opening of the country’s International borders, albeit only as of 1 October, appears to have had little impact on the Restaurant industry to date.

On my latest Restaurant Closure list I have 73 Restaurants in Cape Town and the Winelands which have closed down, an increase of only 3 Restaurant Closures in the past month. Clarke’s and Dahlia on Regent announced their permanent closure, but have reopened. Continue reading →
