Thursday 10 June 2021, Day 11 of Adjusted Level 2 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a wonderful day; for a busy writing morning, bringing the good news that our Sandak-Lewin Portfolio Manager Greg Anderson will soon be moved off our account, after I have lodged complaints about him for more than a year; for a quick walk through Bakoven; for collecting my Dinkel rolls; for finding the new Paris Cape Town Boulangerie and Pâtisserie on Main Road in Sea Point which opened yesterday; for an unusual Utopia Status meeting, winemaker Ken Forrester popping in to see my client, and for finally meeting Rene Hurwitz who I know from Facebook, celebrating her 48th wedding anniversary with lunch at Utopia, and for a spoil glass of Bottega Continue reading →

Friday 14 May 2021, Day 75 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful that every cloud has a silver lining, no matter how dark the cloud, a day very different to my usually happy go lucky days; for waking up early and getting my work completed early; for a beautiful sky day, with lots of clouds, and the rain clouds rolling in now; for a refreshing walk to Woolies, to buy veggies for a rainy day soup, the soup turning out to be super tasty by adding the left-over Mauritian sausage dish by Michele mmmm; for a second sunset walk through Bakoven, bumping into siblings Mel and Jason, who took over Roots CafĂŠ and Kitchen a month ago, having written about them earlier this week; and for being healthy and Free. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to Western Cape Blood Service; Sour Service Award goes to Sandak-Lewin!

The Sweet Service Award goes to the Western Cape Blood Service, and its Branch on Long Street especially, for doing an amazing job in encouraging blood donors to donate blood. I receive an sms message every three months to donate blood, and the welcome at the Branch is warm, the Covid protocol is strict, my iron level is checked, my blood pressure is checked, I receive a juice while donating blood, and I receive a wonderful cup of tea afterwards, with a selection of biscuits and fruit cake. One of the ladies who ‘checks’ us in knows that I drink my tea black and weak, and makes it to perfection. We receive a gift on most visits, yesterday’s gift being a pair of winter socks (will be passed on), and two branded masks. Continue reading →

Thursday 13 May 2021, Day 73 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another wonderful day, making the most of half a day without electricity, all of Camps Bay cut off; for having started working very early this morning, which meant that I was less affected by the unannounced power failure; for a first Bakoven walk when I had completed what I could without power; for meeting Manager Henning at Dinkel for the first time, when collecting my rolls; for parking my car outside Utopia and walking to the WP Blood Service 🩸on Long Street, to donate blood, with lovely service, one of the ladies knowing how I like my tea, and for gifts of 2 masks and a pair of winter socks, the latter Continue reading →
