Thursday 13 May 2021, Day 73 of Level 1 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for another wonderful day, making the most of half a day without electricity, all of Camps Bay cut off; for having started working very early this morning, which meant that I was less affected by the unannounced power failure; for a first Bakoven walk when I had completed what I could without power; for meeting Manager Henning at Dinkel for the first time, when collecting my rolls; for parking my car outside Utopia and walking to the WP Blood Service 🩸on Long Street, to donate blood, with lovely service, one of the ladies knowing how I like my tea, and for gifts of 2 masks and a pair of winter socks, the latter which I’ll pass on; for booking a birthday breakfast at Hemelhuijs for Saturday, and taking a slice of milktart home with me from there; for a lovely Utopia Status meeting, two visitors asking me whether I own the restaurant 😱; for my client and I celebrating International Cocktail Day with a cocktail each, after we photographed them, a lovely way to end the meeting; for a message from Vivian Warby to walk, which I accepted immediately, we just catching the tail end of the Bakoven sunset, and chatting about Viv’s lovely laughing birthday dinner; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙
Due to the power failure I could not write my blogpost.
Sandak-Lewin continues to amaze me as to the depth of its poor service. After a week their Portfolio Manager Greg Anderson still has not replied to my email about the R1 million maintenance quotes. Today the CEO of the company, Carl Smit, informed that they cannot reply to any communication: ‘The main reason for delays is that we are currently busy with getting all our schemes registered in terms of POPI and the Information Regulator’. I asked him for an explanation, and why we were not informed proactively, to which I received a rude reply. 😡😡😡

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
