Easter Sunday 12 April 2020 🐣🐰, Day 28 of S A Corona Virus, Day 17 of SA Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a wonderful and peaceful Easter; for waking up to a gloriously wet garden, after it rained heavily all night long; for being connected to so many friends today, one going back to last communicating 4 years ago; for so many happy memories of past Easters, and lovely Brunches on my terrace, which we would have had today to celebrate Easter, had we not been in Lockdown; for the joy in giving on a day like today ❤️ ; for loving listening to the Messiah by Handel at the start to my day, in bed, it being performed on Easter Sundays in the City Hall year after year, my absolute Easter highlight; for so many Easter wishes from around the world; for it being warm enough to wear a summer dress when the sun came out; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

My Top 21 recommendations for what to see and do in Havana, Cuba!

I arrived in Havana on 3 July 2019, with no preparation of what I wanted to see or do, except that I wanted to learn to dance the Salsa. I was lucky that a slightly out of date ‘Cuba’ Guide by Lonely Planet was lying in the lounge of the San Lazaro BnB I stayed at. I annexed it for the more than three weeks that I stayed there, and found useful background information in it, but perhaps it contains too much information, not just focused on Havana, my only destination in Cuba, therefore making a large part of the book irrelevant to me. Much more useful was the Guidebook ‘300 Things to love about Havana’ by Heidi Hollinger, focused on Havana, divided into the various suburbs of Havana, with an address, a good representative photograph, and largely accurate in its descriptions, even if published in 2018.

Classics for All Festival 2017 a high note for Greyton!

This past weekend my son visiting from the U.K. and I attended the 13th Classics for All Festival in Greyton, the second year that I have attended the Festival dedicated to classical music. Hermanus FynArts 2016 a feast of a fine arts Festival!

imageLast night I returned from the Hermanus FynArts Festival, having spent six days of the Festival ten-day period enjoying a feast of a fine Festival! I have experienced Festivals in my time, but never for so long a period, and none so extensive in content as the Hermanus FynArts Festival.
