Jubilation: Step down to Corona Lockdown Level 2, Alcohol and Cigarette bans lifted by President Ramaphosa, inter-provincial Travel opens up!

 

After 76 days at Level 3, and 66 days at Levels 5 and 4, President Ramaphosa this evening announced that the whole country will move to Lockdown Level 2 as of midnight on Monday 17 August, and has given the country a Christmas-in-August gift, with the cigarette and alcohol  bans lifted, the latter with some new regulations. Corona Lockdown Level 3: Tourism Minister presents operation of Tourism industry: Business Tourism only, Tourist Guides to claim financial support and to operate, and a number of other tourism sectors can open up!

 

Tourism Minister Nkhensani Kubayi-Ngubane addressed the nation this evening, in a short fast half hour presentation, explaining the regulations pertaining to the Level 3 regulations for the Tourism industry. While the focus in Level 3 is on the Domestic market, and on Business Tourism only, the Minister said that the Tourism Industry should be opening up at all levels, including international tourism, from December 2020 onwards!
