Mozambik Restaurant brings Afro-Porto cuisine to the Waterfront in Cape Town, Peri-Peri good food and service!

 

Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of enjoying Portuguese-style food at Mozambik, a restaurant in the Waterfront which opened about a year ago to great acclaim by locals. Its website describes its cuisine as ‘Afro-Porto’, reflecting the Portuguese origin of Mozambique, a country discover by Vasco de Gama in 1748, and which sits to the east of South Africa, renowned for its seafood, and peri-peri hot sauces served with its chicken dishes in particular. I have only just paged through the Eat Out 2020 magazine, and was interested in the article on restaurants trends observed during 2019 whilst Eat Out Head Judge and Chef Margot Janse and her team of judges roamed the country to evaluate our country’s top restaurants for the 2019 Eat Out Awards. Coco Safar opens in Sea Point today, with world’s first Botanical Coffee and Rooibos Brewery and most advanced coffee roastery in Africa!

Last Friday I was honoured to experience a preview of Coco Safar, which opens in Sea Point’s newly developed Artem, previously the Adelphi Centre, today. It houses the world’s first Botanical Coffee and Rooibos Brewery, the top coffee roastery in Africa, and is a top quality patisserie and chocolate supplier, bought to take away or enjoyed sitting down. An exciting coffee and Rooibos drinking Renaissance is being created at Coco Safar in Cape Town today, the culmination of a ten-year development journey. The decor style is inspired by Belle Epoque.
