Thursday 17 February 2022, Day 140 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a mainly organized day; for it being warm at 31C without wind, after last night’s hefty storm; for preparing for my client meeting this afternoon; for our garage door getting the day wrong, refusing to close today, usually playing up on Saturdays; for ‘fortunately’ forgetting my cellphone at home, having to return from Gardens to fetch it, to find out that Henry was unable to get the garage door to close, so Ms Organizer Chris jumped onto my phone, found the garage door guy recommended by Nicholas Fjord via Gary Peterson, giving us amazing service to get the garage door Continue reading →

Art on the ground ‘Beyond Walls’ creates longest human chain in the world, launches Public Arts Festival in Cape Town!

The launch of the ‘Beyond Walls’ art exhibition of international artist Saype in Sea Point yesterday has attracted attention from locals, an exhibition one cannot see on the ground, but is visible from above, and from photographs taken by drones.

Wednesday 2 December 2020, Day 73 of Level 1, Day 252 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful to all of you for your care and concern in KitKat having been taken away yesterday 😱😢😿; for the luck of having pre-planned a lunch today with Hanlie Theron and Johnny Nortje, which distracted me from my sadness, and got me out of my home; for a lovely sunny day, but the wind now blowing strongly; for the request by my Canadian tour operator to
produce a ‘Christmas in Cape Town’ video, what a fabulous challenge; for having my Community Cleaning team doing a deep clean with me this afternoon; for attending the celebration of the new showroom of Boutique Haute Horologie in the Waterfront; for Brian Van Hansen spontaneously saying yes to doing the Christmas video, with 15 minutes notice; for two Discovery Vitality Gameboard plays; and for being healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Western Cape Tourist Guiding registration goes online, will it speed up the process?

Having been through a two-month process of obtaining my Tourist Guiding badge, using the Western Cape Department of Economic Affairs and Tourism manual procedure to do so by submitting numerous pages via email, it was interesting to read that the Province is now offering an online Tourist Guide registration and renewal procedure.

It appears that the issuing of tourist registration cards (mine took two months) and tourist badges (still not received after three and a half months) may delay the online registration process, in that a number of departmental processes and procedures may still hold up the registration process, and may not make the Tourist Guide registration process any faster. Trying to register within the Covid Lockdown has added to the delay in the registration process.  I had to request Western Cape Premier Alan Winde for support, with a follow up, and have been impressed with the interaction with Ilse van Schalkwyk, the Chief Director of Economic Sector Support.
