German couple Wolfgang and Cornelial wanted some Cape sunshine, and booked a two week trip to Cape Town spontaneously. Their travel agent booked them three destinations: Franschhoek, Sanbona, and the V& A Waterfront in Cape Town. They had visited Cape Town seven years ago.
The Travel Ban was instituted by most countries in Europe, the USA and UK on their last day, a Black Friday of 26 November. They received notification late that evening that their Qatar flight to Frankfurt had been cancelled for the following day. Business Insider today has summarised which airlines are currently servicing our South African airports, and which others will be doing the same soon. While we are seeing few tourists in our city, there definitely must be incoming international tourists, given the number of flights arriving in our country.
The Department of Home Affairs has just announced its revised list of Red countries, being the countries whose citizens and residents may not travel into our country as Leisure Tourists. The initial List of 60 countries was announced on 30 September, with a promise of it being updated every 14 days, but the announcement today is late by five days!
